I spent all day on the river yesterday whitewater rafting, and the best way to relax after all that is to head to downtown Bend for the perfect margarita at El Jimador. I’ve been visiting the great atmosphere, service, food and drinks here for a few years now. El Jimador is located right downtown in a prime people watching spot on the corner of Wall St. and Franklin. They provide indoor and outdoor seating, although you may have to wait for a seat you can still enjoy a drink until your table comes up.
First of all the service is great, as the restaurant is owned and operated my a local Hispanic family. You will always see a big smile on the faces of you greeter as well as you server and it looks like the cooks are even having a good time as you watch them cook away over the open grill and kitchen area. The food is great as well, but we are talking about drinks today. When I think of a great drink for a hot summer day I can’t help the urge to have one of those perfect margaritas. What makes it so perfect is the fact that it is made with high quality tequila and what I believe to be is a in house margarita mix. As your server walks out with your perfect margaritas you see the salt on the rim of the glass as it swelters in the high dessert sun. Then you look at your server as they place the drink on your table and then another one right next to it. You ask, but I only order one drink, why do I have two in front of me now. Well folks we call that the side car, that’s right what’s better than a perfect margarita, two perfect margaritas of course. This gives you plenty of time to people watch and chill with your friends as you enjoy the atmosphere.
