Great Eats And Cool Beats At Parilla Grill

If your looking for a quick bite or a place to hang out with your friends and have some drinks. Then Parilla Grill on the Flaming Chicken roundabout on the corner of Galveston and Century Dr on Bend’s West side is the place to be. One of the local west side hangouts for many years now, Parilla Grill features all kinds of healthy and tasty wraps and one of my favorites, the fish tacos. With a margarita bar and several local beers on tap, you won’t have a problem finding something to satisfy your thirst.

Parilla is also a huge supporter of the community, as they host multiple events throughout the year. The summer time also brings an outdoor concert series which is also part of the commute options program. What better than cruising on your bike and checking out the music on a warm summer night in Bend. With summer right around the corner it wont be long until we are enjoying the hot summer days. But as it is still winter, although a mild one, you can keep warm and full with great eats at Parilla Grill.

Croutons Aren’t Just For Salad

Located on Bend’s West Side, Croutons is a nice little lunch spot on your way to the mountian, just off Century Dr. arcoss from the West Side Safeway. They offer hot and cold sandwiches, house made soups and the freshest salads. With a fair amount of indoor seating it makes for a good place to grab a quick healthy lunch with a friend. In the summer time you can sit out on the large patio and enjoy the Bend summer weather. Croutons also does to go orders and the service is always quick with a smile from the awesome work staff.

So next time you want a healthy lunch with not much time to spare. Check out Croutons , one of the newer restaurants on Bend’s West Side.

Disco Skate Night!

Beggining this Friday and the first Friday of each month, the 7th Mtn Resort Ice Rink has a disco skate night. The ice rink is open for public skating prior to the disco portion of the evening event. The disco skate starts at 7pm and goes till 10pm. If you arrive in costume then you will receive $2 off the admission and skate rental price. The event includes specially diso theme lighting on the ice rink as well as enhanced disco music. During the skate session there will be some games played and an ultimate skate off for the top 3 skaters of the evening. Prizes may be room stays at the 7th Mtn Resort, dinner at Seasons Restaurant at the 7th Mtn Resort or free ice passes.

So come on out to the Ice Rink at the 7th Mtn resort and get you disco skate groove on. Just head out on Century drive towards Mt Bachelor, only 7 miles outside of Bend. You may also enjoy the Bar and Lounge next to the ice rink to warm up with some great food and drink specials.

When your head to the mountain to go shred some fresh pow on Mt Bachelor or just going to work on a cold winter day. Don’t forget to start your day right with the fast and friendly service at the Dutch Bros. Coffee drive through coffee huts conveniently located around Bend. There is now doubt that your coffee will be hot and fresh as it is almost as hot as the lava that ounce flowed from the Cascade Mountain Range. With the convenience of the drive through style coffee hut you don’t even need to leave your warm care which also saves you a bunch of time. As the offical white water raft guide last summer for the entire Dutch Bros. Coffee crew, I can personally vouch for the great attitude and friendly service you will receive every time you drvie through. So warm up you morning or even your afternoon with some great drinks at your local Dutch Bros. Coffee!

Let It Snow!

After receiving aing dusting of snow little more than a week ago on Mt Bachelor. We just got our first considerable dump of snow on the mountains the other night, totaling 8 inches of heavy base building snow. Although this first bit of snow will more than likely melt over the next few days, i can’t help but think about cruising the slopes. As a resident of Bend for the past 10 years I’ve spent a lot of time snowboarding at Mt Bachelor. With some of the highest annual snowfall totals and the driest powder in the North West, Mt Bachelor is a powder hounds paradise. We had over 500 inches of total snowfall last year and this is an El Nino year, so that means we could have another epic year on the mountain.

So If your looking to get some days on Mt Bachelor and you are a resident or a second home owner that frequents the area. Then a season pass might be a great deal for you, especially since Mt Bachelor has recently extended its preseason pass prices through Friday Oct 9. Even if you planning a short trip for the winter already, there are some multi day passes at awesome prices. And for those of you who just plane miss the early season deals, Mt Bachelor is also doing a kind of sliding scale day pass pricing depending of weather and open lifts.

The season at Mt Bachelor usually begins around Thanksgiving weekend and goes through the end of May. So with almost 7 months of skiing and snowboarding you have plenty of opportunity to catch some great days on the mountain. Offering all types of terrain that will keep any level rider looking forward to that next epic run. Start over on the West Village side of the mountain where the main lodge is located for some green terrain for the kids and the best bar on the mountain for the adults. Or cruise to the top of the mountain up the Summit lift for and epic view and some steeper terrain. The North West side of the resort for the best powder and tree runs with all kinds of wind lips and drops for the advanced rider. If you have the family with you and your looking to take it easy where the weather is usually a little more mild. Then head over to the east side of the hill to the Sunrise Lodge for food, beer, and a family atmosphere with a bunch of easier terrainfor the whole family. There is ample parking on this side of the mountain with two large parking lots or free shuttle buss service from the West Village side. The entire mountain can be assessed from either lodge as Mt Bachelor is a unique volcanic cone shaped mountain.

So even though we are more than a month to go before opening day, don’t forget to get geared up and grab those early season deals on the passes. Cause looking good on the mountain in all your new gear only matters if your actually rinding the mountain. Get your passes and come shred the volcano this winter!

Game Time!

It’s that time of the year again for all of the you sports enthusiasts. As baseball get’s closer to playoff time and with College and Pro football just beginning, we have plenty to keep us occupied till the snow flies on Mt Bachelor. So if you don’t have the all sports pacakage at home and you want to catch the game in a awesome sports fan environment you have to head downtown. With good beer, food and all the games, Sidelines is the place to be. Sidelines is located right downtown on Wall St across the street from Bank Of America. This place has over 20 flat screen TVs, with plenty of seating to handle a good size crowd. The beer is great, with all of you local favorite flavors on tap at a good price. The thing I like most other than the great sports environment is the good bar food. I’m a meat eater and I appreciate a good burger, at Sidelines you won’t be disappointed. With several choices you can’t go wrong, big enough to fill you up with a big side of fries but not too tough on your wallet. So instead of missing the game and going hungry, get down to Sidelines and catch all the action.

The Perfect Margarita

Hello everyone, I hope your days are good and full of fun and sun. If your missing that in your daily routine then you should check out Bend, OR. I spent all day on the river yesterday whitewater rafting, and the best way to relax after all that is to head to downtown Bend for the perfect margarita at El Jimador. I’ve been visiting the great atmosphere, service, food and drinks here for a few years now. El Jimador is located right downtown in a prime people watching spot on the corner of Wall St. and Franklin. They provide indoor and outdoor seating, although you may have to wait for a seat you can still enjoy a drink until your table comes up.

First of all the service is great, as the restaurant is owned and operated my a local Hispanic family. You will always see a big smile on the faces of you greeter as well as you server and it looks like the cooks are even having a good time as you watch them cook away over the open grill and kitchen area. The food is great as well, but we are talking about drinks today. When I think of a great drink for a hot summer day I can’t help the urge to have one of those perfect margaritas. What makes it so perfect is the fact that it is made with high quality tequila and what I believe to be is a in house margarita mix. As your server walks out with your perfect margaritas you see the salt on the rim of the glass as it swelters in the high dessert sun. Then you look at your server as they place the drink on your table and then another one right next to it. You ask, but I only order one drink, why do I have two in front of me now. Well folks we call that the side car, that’s right what’s better than a perfect margarita, two perfect margaritas of course. This gives you plenty of time to people watch and chill with your friends as you enjoy the atmosphere. So if you having a great day and you want to end it in the perfect way then go check out El Jimador for the Perfect Margarita.

Welcome to Snowboard Mt. Bachelor

Today was another great day in Bend, OR. I started my day by havin a cup of coffe and chillin around the house. The second half of the day was a little more eventfull, as I headed to work. You might be thinking to yourself how could work be eventfull. Well I’m not talking about someone getting fired or the copy machine breaking down again. I went whitewater rafting on the Upper Deschutes River just a few miles outside of Bend. I’m a raft guide for the Seventh Mtn. Resort and I’ve been working and guiding on the Big Eddy Rapids for the past seven years. I love my job and feel lucky to live in such a great place.

This site will serve as a guide to the locals and all of our visitors to this great place. I will be telling you all about my adventures and outings on the town as well as info I gather from other locals and friends of mine as to how they like to spend their days here in Bend. A locals perspective on what to do rather than what u see in the biggest advertisments. For instance, what is the best margritia in town, whats the music seen looking like or where is the pow stash on Mt Bachelor?

I encourge people to let me know what you think of my suggestions. Did you have fun, would you go back or did you go somewhere cool and have a good time. After living here for the past nine years I’ve meet thousands of people through the outdoor industry I work in. Over the years I’ve shared my stories and suggestions with people and now we’ve opend it to a new venue for all to share. So have a great day and we will see where the evelotion of the new site goes.
